HISTORY OF POLAND IS A HISTORY OF

MANY NATIONS AND DIFFERENT CULTURES

Until the end of the World War II Poland was a multiethnic and -cultural country. Within its borders there lived Ukrainians, Germans, Lithuanians, Russians, Belarussians next to Poles.  Beside the dominant Catholic religion Poland was a home for confessors of Judaism, Orthodoxy, Greek Catholicism or Protestantism.

Poland is also a country of emigrants. Numerous wars, uprisings as well as poverty forced people to seek a better life in other countries, mostly in the United States. That`s the reason why many people from all over the world can find individuals with Polish roots among their ancestors.

Well known people like Scarlett Johansson, Adrien Brody, Uma Thurman, Axl Rose, Emily Ratajkowski, Amy Schumer, David Baddiel or Marylin Manson can prove having Polish ancestors.
